Communication & Practice Policies

Picture
  • I want to hear from you when you need me. Your call will usually be received by our 24-hour voice mail system.
  • If the call is an emergency, you can always call 911, 988 or the GA Crisis & Access Line at 1-800-715-4225.

  • While I do not answer calls during therapy sessions, I will respond to your call as soon as possible. When your call is an emergency, please follow the instructions in the voicemail or call 911 or 988..
  • If the call takes more than a few minutes, I will assess a pro-rated charge.
  • I will often communicate with you via text, email or phone. Please let me know if this is unacceptable for your circumstances.

  • Unless otherwise stated, text reminders are sent to clients once as confirmation & then again 48 hours before your appointment. Please let me know if this is unacceptable for your circumstances.
  • Cancellations and No Shows: 48 hour notice is required for cancellations. Cancellations of less than 48 hours, including no shows, will be charged the full rate of $135. This includes first appointments.
  • As a courtesy, my scheduling software will send confirmation and reminders via text, email and voice. Ultimately the responsibility to remember your appointment is yours.
  • First Appointment policy: Due to the unprecedented need for mental health care, my availability is very limited. Most people who do not complete the intake packet do not show for their first appointment. This leaves me feeling unsure of your commitment to your reserved time slot. Please complete paperwork in the client portal in a timely manner. This helps my billing person to verify your benefits ahead of time and allows me time to review your file before you come in. Please let me know if you have any issues in completing the paperwork. If you have any issues, or did not receive the client portal invitation in your email, please reach out to me directly before your appointment. Be sure to check your spam folder first.
  • A credit or debit card is required to hold your appointment. If you do not show or cancel in less than 48 hours of your appointment time, you will be charged a no-show fee. The time reserved is reserved especially for you. Demand for mental healthcare is at an all time high, which means available time slots are limited and there is a waitlist. This policy includes first appointments as well as ongoing appointments. When you do not show or cancel at the last minute, you are preventing someone on the waitlist the opportunity to take the slot.
  • If you initiate communication with me via text, phone or email I will assume you have given consent to communicate via this avenue.
  • Email, text or phone communication is not always secure. While I do my best to ensure it, I cannot guarantee confidentiality via these avenues of communication.
  • It is my policy NOT to get involved in my client’s legal issues. If you believe it necessary to subpoena me, your therapist for my time and expertise, you will be responsible for my expert witness fees (see below and in my intake packet). If you decide to involve me in your legal issues, I can no longer be your therapist.
  • If you are planning to apply for disability, FMLA, etc. (or anything similar) at any point, or anticipate any legal matters, please let me know as soon as possible. This helps to inform our work together. I can only sign and complete paperwork, letters, assessments and evaluations for current, ongoing clients in good standing, who have completed at least 6 sessions with me. If you are a previous client who requests these services, you will need to be reevaluated and seen again as a current & ongoing client. Note:  I DO NOT currently accept Medicaid or Medicare at this time.
  • I DO NOT give emotional support animal letters at this time.
  • I DO accept HSA cards for payment
  • Common questions about our building: Parking is conveniently located behind the building (we share a driveway with the house next door.).. You can also park at the parking deck across from the courthouse.. We do not have a receptionist, so make yourself comfortable on one of the couches in the waiting room until I am ready for you.

Services & Fees

Picture
I am currently accepting payment through some insurance companies.

If discretion is a concern, or you do not have insurance or mental health coverage, I accept self pay clients as well.

If you are using insurance and have mental health benefits, please check to make sure you have reached your deductible.

If you have met your deductible, the fee for each session will be your co-pay to see a "Specialist".

If you have NOT met your deductible, you will be expected to pay the full rate that your insurance policy reimburses until you have met your deductible. Claims will be filed under your insurance until you have met your deductible.

If your insurance is denied, my billing person will do everything possible to work with your insurance company to resolve the issue, however, you will still be responsible for my full fee until or unless the issue is satisfactorily resolved.

If I do not accept your insurance, I can attempt to file  out of network. I will also be happy to provide you with a superbill if you wish to file on your own and be reimbursed by your insurance. If you do not have insurance and money is an issue, I do take a very limited amount of clients through the Open Path Network

Note:  I DO NOT currently accept Medicaid or Caresource.

Sliding Scale: Due to current policies around insurance companies, if I accept insurance, I unfortunately cannot provide a sliding scale.

It is your responsibility to check with your insurance company to ensure that you have mental health benefits, that you have current coverage, that you have met your deductible and what co-pay or out of pocket amounts you owe at the time of service. If you have not met insurance deductibles or your insurance claims are denied or rejected, you are responsible for the fees accrued.

I understand that things come up from time to time, however the time you schedule to meet with me is reserved especially for you. 48 hour notice of cancellation is required. A charge of the full rate of $135 will apply to any late cancellations of less than 48 hours, including no shows. THIS article lays out well why I have a cancellation policy.

As a courtesy, my scheduling software will send confirmations and reminders via text, email and voice. Ultimately the responsibility to remember your appointment is yours.

Have a balance due from insurance deductibles or other reasons? Make a payment  OR  log into your client portal and pay there.

  • Clinical Supervision: Please call or email to set up an interview. Self pay only service
  • Court appearance, expert witness, on call: It is my policy NOT to get involved in my client’s legal issues. When called to court, your therapist must reschedule an entire day of clients (8-9 clients on average), some of whom may be suicidal, homicidal or otherwise in crisis. As a result, your day in court costs your therapist an entire day of pay and clients who need to be seen cannot be seen and must be rescheduled. If you believe it necessary to subpoena me, your therapist, for my time and expertise, you will be responsible for my expert witness fees in the amount of $1,500.00 for one-half (1/2) day to be paid five (5) days in advance of any court appearance or deposition.  Any additional time I spend over one-half (1/2) day will be billed at the rate of $375.00 per hour including travel time. If you decide to involve me in your legal issues it changes the therapeutic relationship, therefore, I can no longer be your therapist. Self pay service.
  • Legal Consultation fee: $375 per hour to be paid 5 days in advance of agreed appointment time. Self pay service.

Because of limited scheduling availability, you will be asked for your credit card/debit card information  to secure your first visit.
